4 The death note

 My friend from the earlier chapter back in 2022 It was as spontaneous as you can spit on a dime as you do a coin flip.

We were driving along, in the city of Allentown, and she was telling me of her mother in-law she called her but really, they were really best friends. In Virgina. She was in her late 70s. but she would help her get laid or get stuff. Oh, and the selling point. The stuff down there is 99% pure. Yes, I took the opportunity to ask if it was blue. I am saddened to report it was not blue.

That was trademarked by some other dude.

The car trip down wasn’t bad, she pointed out the point where we crossed the Mason and Dixon Line line separating the North from the South.  I let her drove some of the way but before we got into Virgina, we stopped, and I took over at her request. She told me the Police in Virigina don’t like people from Pennsylvania.  On the condition, she got to play Country music. As we hit the state border. It wasn’t really an option, there was only one music that gets played she said. (you have to ask someone from there.)

(I mostly like all music except country, that is until I met my friend who tried their best to introduce me to some, because basically I never heard of too many. So basides devil went down to georga or willie Nelson know when to hold’em. She put me onto some country. So … I guess I like some country music now lol)

It was fun just going up for a while one of the reasons for the visit is her friend had recently lost her husband, so she was dealing with her own grief, so she was grateful for the company. We made the plan to go with her friend to the cemetery, on the way in I stopped to do another neutral prayer as I entered.

What I am about to write may remind you of a certain bible story, I know it does me. Although I am not one for going to church. It was studied in my high school as religion is studied.

My friend and her mother in-law. Where either side of the grave both sitting on the ground. From what I gathered from them both he wasn’t that pleasant of a person in life, he wasn’t very kind to his wife because of drugs. But that was in the past his crimes whatever they were, where paid for with his life.

As I was my friends escort I stood at the foot of the grave and introduced myself silently as you do. Then went around the back behind the tombstone. All I could see and feel was just how much pain my friend was in.

She was having a really hard life, perhaps no more than others but to me it was more than her fair share of pain and it was way more than anyone could carry it was crushing her. Like a giant boulder.

I had healed up enough to know I was strong enough to carry some of it. As if I could see the person whom we came to meet standing above the two woman, him and I nodded as men do and I promised him I would do whatever it took to look after my friend and make sure nothing would harm her. In exchange I would carry half of whatever pain she was carrying on to me, myself. So she would have at least a fighting chance.

I went to the car got a small piece of paper and wrote everything I had agreed silently to her father in-law so to speak. 

Briefly, - I saw she was in so much pain, I said I couldn’t allow that to happen anymore. I will carry half of that pain. In exchange, I would promise to do whatever I could to make sure she was ok.

Once, it was written, with them both present, I put the note folded up into a flower vase. Without being read. 

You then have 24 hours, only 24 hours. To change your mind. You can either go back retrieve the note asking to be released from the promise. Or you come out loud what the promise you made. However, you will have broken it.

Once, 24 hours has passed. It’s Iron glad. You made a promise to the dead.

And they collect.

After 24 hours, you can come out that you made a promise, but it wouldn’t matter. The trick is – whoever comes to clean up the flowers at the cemetery. Who will find that note. Will become the witness, - a Neutral third-party Witness.

Two, can keep a secret when one of them is dead.  The song by The Pierces called Secret is about death notes.

It wasn’t until about a year later, I think the note was found. I say I think because there is no 100% way of knowing for sure.

During the initial 24 hours, I could hear my mother and nana asking me to not do it and go back. But I was stubborn. Just as much Aries as my friend was.

Right, at the 24 hour marked it started to happen to, myself getting hurt more and more. Taking on that pain, taking it from her so she would have a chance.

That, one year mark, I feel was when the note was found. Because we had become so close to each other as friends it felt like we could hear each other within our minds. We knew what each other was thinking. But she gained the best and only honest best friend she would have because I didn’t hide the truth from her.  I was on her side which was more than anyone else, was doing. From my perspective, everyone around her was at odds with her. Trying to do what was they thought the best for her. Instead I let her tell me how to help her.

I always had someone fighting for me in my corner, She didn’t have anyone. Until she met me. I just formalized it with the death note.

Now, rather you believe it or not. The cautionary note – is Death notes Link your souls to each other. Why I think we could hear each other. If she was in pain. I felt it, if she was hurt, I felt it, if she was getting high, I knew it. It was only one way. So I know who and when or if she was in trouble. I would message her parents and tell them. Which I did only once.

When her step father found out about this, his immediate idea was “I know lets choke my daughter” so he did. Soon as he started I started coughing. Abruptly.  If she died, I died. They didn’t know for sure if I died she would have died.

I just told him, your daughter has someone on her side. You wont have to worry about her staying alive now.  It gets a little complicated because her and her mother were close so a little bit of her is with her mother. So I was connected to her as well.

Her mother, asked me to be her friend to help her get off drugs. But I know she didn’t have this in mind. Because she did understand the bible reference when I explained it the way I am doing so to you now. She being a devote Christian it wasn’t an easy sell. But sell it I did.

Personally, the part is – You never know, who, when or if that note is ever found. There was no names attached all that witness knows is that promise was made.

You are only released from the promise to the dead, when you have completed the promise, you can go back to the original place and ask to be let go from the promise. The only other alternative is to go back to the original church I was christened, the lady’s chapel of my hometown. Ask my mother to have a nice word basically. You need to ask one of your relatives to talk to the person to try and get them to release you.

Where I learned all this?

School, also, English version of Charmed, season 2, there is an episode where they go into a Chinese store, they have a computer screen exposed that showed the website as an easter egg for the show. Turns out there was a lot of charms, curses and the death note we learned with much more details.

Clearly, I am not deceased otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this, and yes, she passed away so I failed in my task despite my best efforts to prevent it.

There was considerable time, after her passing where, I would have to explain everything to her step-father and mother. Again and again, when they were ready to hear it. I told them the hard truth about everything. What she was hiding, how they missed things. I got them to go through their entire house while I was in mine. Telling them all of her hiding spots to put the stuff (meth)

Her parents, were letting her younger sister become friends with the neighbor until I quoted word for word so her step-dad knew it was her speaking. They immediately put a stop to that and dealt with it.  Although she was not alive physically, she was still alive and everything I promised was walking around in the form of her sister. The only thing she cared more about other than herself was her sister.  Soon as I made sure it was known about the step-father sleep walking and the mother being abusive while on Prozac. Making sure her sister spent most of the time with her guardians.

Did, I complete the death note and felt it lifted off me.

The only thing, that makes me question America’s way of not teaching religion in schools. Is because these people were “devote Christians” They created God paremts and separate set of guardians. It took me who got an F in GCSE’s religious education. To tell them, God parents are guardians. If they were to die, the God parents would get custody of guardians. Which prompted them to call the father of the church to ask what would happen if they were to ignore the god parents because they wanted the guardians to have custody.

They choose their religion because it was the religion of their parents and followed it blindly. They have Sunday school and unless you have a catholic school you don’t talk about religion in any sector. It is the complete reverse in England. Which leads to better decisions about ones choosing of a particular faith.

The father in-law’s voice simply spoke to me saying I had completed the promise I made to him.

It was only after, the name was changed or removed from the lease of her old apartment. years later did I feel she had truly had gone. The apartment of hers where I never set foot in. was enough to link her to life.

Her step-dad, said to me after I explained the first couple of times, it was where you saw her grow up to be an adult by allowing her to choose. She had to make a decision and accept the consequences.

His, only grievance was that I was stealing his daughter away from him, because I knew more about his own stepdaughter. Then he ever did, he never knew she liked racing for example. All they did was push religion onto her and say no to drugs anything else is not acceptable.  I pointed out you could have spent time watching movies together. But the movies she like he censored them all saying he wasn’t going to allow his daughters to see mens dick, which they both turned around saying we’ve all seen plenty of dicks already.

He hadn’t grasp they had grown up. She was 25 the other was 16-18 at the time.

I never want to replace anyone’s dad, however when she told me he had fucked her. It changed my entire perspective, but I never did what I did with her to steal her from her step-father. I was simply doing what I did with my ex wife but this time I can walk away.  

I was the only one, that could help her because I seen it all before twice before.

Which understandable pissed and properly still pisses them off. Because they felt it should be them to help. – It just can not nor could it have ever been.

Finally, on the death note. Yes I think it work and it did what it was suppose to do. Was it insane, meh I am not convinced. I can quote you Martin Luther king’s quote. About being right to do what is right.

To me it was an easy instinctive decision.

It is certainly not something to mess with as you can get into a lot of trouble. If you take souls and spirits seriously. Then Promises to the dead. You better plan to keep or plan your grave, the warning was on the webpage.

I know, the mind can make things real, I wasn’t in a position to do that because as explained it was almost a year later I almost forgotten about it when everything changed.

What did she say in mind? Wow, you can hear this? You really can hear this? And then go running to her mother next door to tell her instantly.

It was just as if we talked on walkie talkies. Because I heard her speak on the other side of the wall in response to what I was thinking.

I know it isn’t possible. – or is it. Don’t fuck around with Death notes and you will never have to find out. The dead collect on debts.
