The Dark Knight Series
The Dark Knight Series
So this was my very first series quite frankly it shows. The first book I did not have money to buy an editor, I didn't let that stop me. I knew I was not going to win any awards. So I just wanted to have fun, The person who narrated book one (1) and three (3) actually expressed geniune interest stating it had a twist.
I initially wanted to borrow a theme, I did pick star wars. Originally I recieved permission at first from Lucas arts then it was withdrawn when they merged with Disney. So that left me having change basically everything. Although it is pretty easy to tell what the story was originally going to be.
So straight off the bat, I wanted to challenge the readers thinking. "Right and wrong, Is there such a thing or is it just a matter of perspective? "
The Jedi/Republic were seen as the Good side. The Empire/Sith were traditionally seen as the bad side. So from the perspective of a strong female lead character. The introduction explains the initial events, where the Republic which is less strict about the rules than the White Knights. Had hired mercenaries to take a group of children to the planet Rriban, The Dark Knights main base with a training academy. These children were being used as weapons who had explosives on them (horrible right?) however we learned that, because of the fortifications and how complex the council chambers were this plan was the only possible plan that could potentially work. Killing the council members could save potential millions of lives in future conflict(s) - So with that in mind, does that change your mind on sacrificing a small group of young kids to save millions more?
The main character Duplex, does a pretty horrible act, murdering her own baby brother, how horrendous! Leaving no doubt in the readers mind that this story is from the perspective of the "bad side." However we go on to learn why she did it, will that change your perspective, perhaps?
"The Dark Knights use their emotions to get their strength, fear, pain and pleasure. All these emotions the Dark Knights have learned are just tools. They are neither good or bad it is how the Knights either Knights Dark or White use them they believe made them good or bad. No, denying the very best of who you are the privilege to feel to shut out or shut down your emotions it wasn’t normal it wasn’t right. Yet to the Republic the Dark Knights are seen as the evil. However when it comes down to it isn’t good and evil just down to purely perception?" Dark knights of Kaas City, 2015,p5
Book 2 - Tackles head on the question - of "There is no emotion there is peace" line. It actually makes a pretty strong counter debate on the subject in my humble opinion.
However all you really need to understand - by the end of book one, you should have found your self starting to care for the character perhaps even love her. You may have forgotten how she started she was only a kid after all.
This open ups with Duplex telling her apprentice's sister, that she is pregnant from her brother who is Duplex's apprentice. It is a rule they must not be stagnation, stagnation is death, standing still in place is death. Meaning the apprentice has to try to kill their master in order to become a master in order to advance or die trying. If this doesn't happen, they both would be killed.
Duplex being with child believes if her apprentice, her husband would find out, he would not be able to kill her, Duplex tells his sister as she truly adores her husband/apprentice and wouldn't be able to kill him, herself. Also if or when the time comes she (the sister) would be able to tell him. Duplex died in order to save the baby and take care of it etc. - Giving you the choice to think about during the story. Either one lives, and the baby survives or they both die and the child potentially dies.
However, the way of the Dark Knights, the apprentice starts his plans early, still not knowing about her condition. Duplex learning of the betrayal manipulates the sister in becoming her new apprentice replacing her brother, and gets her to believe he had betrayed his own sister. It comes to a head where the Brother/husband/Apprentice faces up with Duplex. With the younger sister knowing about Duplex pregnancy and with her being mad at her brother. Sister turned weapon of Duplex.
However, what was so traumatic about all of that is Duplex secret at the end... (Which you have to find out your self) as a hint it does remind you she is no Disney princess.
Book 3: Liberation of Rriban,
The third book I had a lot fun with, I really wanted to mess with your mind even more than I already have.
Again the emphasis is on perception, also about telling you to make up your own mind and don't let anyone tell you anything. The story covers basically the policy of scorched earth. For those who do not know or who have not heard of it before. It means to destroy in order to prevent an enemy from gaining vital resources.
World war 2 was a heavy factor for this in my planning and research for this. The American's of cause we're the good guys, and the Axis forces (boo, hisss,) yeah you get it. So I took the names of the Japanese commanders who attacked the Philippines and the US Commanders. However I only used first names. So unless you know your history you may have miss it. I.e Douglas as in Douglas MacArthur. If you hear a name your mind already goes to an already perceived reputation and impression you have of them. So because we are on the story of the Dark knights the perspective has been changed on you, I stole their personality and placed it within the book so the officers of the Republic/White were in style of the characters they were based off as far as I could research.
The story from WW2 I borrowed was that of the HMS Centaur Australian hospital ship that was sunk, by a Japanese submarine. I only found one report and it was from the Australians - which automatically I had a problem with. The victim always cries loudest. So there is a number of situations within this story that along those lines. That carry on from the previous two and then gets you to challenge what you think you know.
Experiment:. Is 1,2,4,5,6 correct to you? How do you know? What is your evidence? is it only because you have been told 1.2.3.4.5.6 is correct?
Which is the reason my books do not have a chapter 5.
It goes 1.2.3.4.4.2 For two reasons one, I absolutely hate anything to do with that number I just loath it.
Second, in keeping with my experiment, The first time I did it, I got tones of feedback saying "Where is chapter 5?", "You've made a mistake" I did the same thing again right through to the She Knows series, one of those books has a chapter 5 and guess what happened? "You've made a mistake there is a chapter 5 in this book"
Proving, that What you believe is correct, is only so because you have become used to it and you believe it is correct. 1.2.3.4.5 was correct to them and 1.2.3.4.42 was wrong to them, however by the time I switched it around. They had gotten used to how I've been doing it. There by reversing the previous statement. Which Ultimately proves we are susceptible to any information told to us. That if it keeps getting told to us we start to believe that is correct when we used to believe different.
- Want a real world example? In the era of before the First world war, Women had to wear full body dresses when they went on the beach, it would be considered shameful if they wore bikinis. - Flip today, - If a woman wears a full body suit like they did back then people think she is ashamed of her body, everyone expects you to be half naked. The - only- thing that has changed is people's perception and understanding. The more people got use to it the more they came to accept it.
If you are interested in any of these, I do have some codes you can listen to the audio books for free on audible,Itunes, Amazon.
I'm going to leave you with the authors notes to listen to from book three as I think it sums this up pretty well.

SHE KNOWS series:
SHE KNOWS series:
This is my second series by the end of the Dark Knight series I had come to love the character Duplex and how manipulative she was. So I wanted to take her and expand it further. Once again there is a LOT of deep under meanings to each book. Each with a subliminal message, which you may not get on the first read.
Yes, I did have a lot of fun writing this series. It is all about a woman's psyche.
She Knows, what?
Nothing is more dangerous,
Than a woman who,
Knows she is gorgeous.
This effectively, is all the series is about, slightly continuing from the previous series, Right and wrong being a matter of perspective. Book 1 just asks. If a woman knows she is gorgeous, why is it automatically assumed she doesn't know she is evil?
Meaning, If a woman is smart enough to know her own power, then she should be smart enough to know her own actions.
Those actions are decided good or bad by the people who observe them. It does not mean, she is unaware she is doing bad.
So what I did different from the Dark Knights series compared to this one. Is although the story is entirely fictional, I want it to be somewhat plausible the events detailed "COULD" potentially happen.
The best way to make a lie sound reasonable is throw in as much truth as you can. So that is what I did, I put my own personal experiences. Into the fictional story. Most if not all my own personal friends were women, so I've had a lot of time and experiences to pick up a few notes.
I know how the mind of some women work. It used to be joked to me that I should teach guys here in America how to treat women. Quite frankly most guys here have no idea, the dream of romance or chivalry is practically dead, the one example in the books I used is, you can't even walk a woman to her car with out her expecting you to have some ulterior motive, because it has become the new "norm" one which that, women have had to put up with so much they have come to expect it. So when I came along fresh from England niave of the American ways, I was just concerned for their safety walking in a dark ally way alone, while leaving work I asked if I could walk her to her car. She turned and said "Why, I'm not going to sleep with you?" She couldn't trust that I just wanted to see her safe.
However I know I'm no saint. I have no business telling people anything, Like said in my last series, make-up your own mind. I do know how the mind works and there-by I could potentially help some understand and stop underestimating having a strong woman in their corner and also the potential dangers of making a strong woman mad.
The story starts off in England, in my formal home town, although the name never gets mentioned. The main girl Lynn, (14) kills her brother. By stabbing him through the head with an ice-pick. Chapter 1 was just the note her brother was writing. So you know why she killed him, Chapter 3 shows you the modified note. You have to pay attention to details. As, the books in this series lie to you, generally the story is being told from Lynn's perspective except for the 1st book. So it takes on Lynn's lie as the main story and you will only know the truth if you read the previous book otherwise, you see Lynn as miss understood victim instead of a cold-hearted calculating b-word. She gets away with the murder of her brother by framing it on her friend Samantha who was visiting for a sleep over, the story takes off from there.
She shows some of her school friends, some of the powerful weapons women with confidence has, such at the ability to distract.
The 2nd Book.
Is about a Woman's Intuition, which is a strong topic to talk about. I play poker a lot and if you want to learn about this, then you will find no better school, than a poker table with women playing.
One of the more fun pieces of this book is, I introduce " Girls acting like guys" Poker night, Poker references feature heavily through out the book. However this game has taken off with a life of its own,I've been told on social media it inspired people to have their own games. The girls play Texas Hold'em, for poker chips they use nail-polishes. The entry fees is their bra's. Which just insures, they're women, and to the reason they take them off, I'll leave to Lola explain.
"We can’t exactly be girls acting like guys if we are dressed like girls, and well, this just ensures the first part,” Lola explained, as she sat down." ('Her' Reputation, Christopher Blythe-Bartram, 2016, p20)
Also in the 2nd book, the character Chris is based on myself to some degree.
Remember how I said I didn't like the traditional predictable books? well, this series is police after a bad person story, sounds predictable I know. Books always show the side of the police and little if any of the bad. Well...not with me, I flipped it. This time you see the mastermind at work, planning and you just see the police responding.
The series doesn't exactly put women up on a pedestal either if that was where you were thinking, I deal with some pretty controversial topics/issues, such as a "woman's inner Slut & Slut shaming"
As the last book in the series only just recently come out, (August 24th) I do not want to give too much away before people have read it all.
Again, I do have some codes so if you are interested let me know. Music has always been important to myself and I put that in with my writing, As I wrote and read it reminded me of various songs, starting with the 2nd book with in this series I started to incorporate songs into the story so the reader will hear, and feel what I want them to feel. I got a lucky break and got permission to use some of the songs in book three from the artist Halsey and actually produce a soundtrack album for the book.
As the idea of a soundtrack album was at that time a novel one. The last book of the series list the link to the official playlist, so as you get to parts of the story that name songs you can hit play and enhance the reading.
It adds so much more power to the words and make them very emotional, have a listen to the excerpt directly below.
